This music symbols? Treble Clef
When you think of music symbols, what is the first thing that comes into your mind? I got this answer most of the time:
About Treble Clef
Probably you are very familiar with this sign if have started picking up an instrument like flute, violin, trumpet or piano. This sign is called treble clef and it’s the first clef you will learn in music theory.
It is also known as G clef because it swirls around the 2nd staff (stave line) and this staff is where we read as G line (note).
(Each line or space indicates different pitches respectively.)
Refer to high pitch
One of the keys in the middle of keyboard, C4 or middle C is notated at the bottom of the stave.
Undoubtedly you can fill up more notes above middle C. As a conclusion you can also say that treble clef is suitable to notate higher pitch. (“Treble” in google search means a high-pitched or shrill voice, tone, or sound.)
Due to its tendency to notate high pitch, treble clef is widely used by majority of the high-pitched instruments . For example:
string
- violin
- harp – high-registered part
woodwind
- piccolo
- flute
- oboe
- clarinet
brass
- trumpet
- french horn
pitched percussion
- tubular bell
- glockenspiel
- xylophone
- vibraphone
- marimba – high-registered part
Keyboard
- all high-registered part of the keyboard

Drawing treble clef
Drawing treble clef is one of the fundamental studies in music learning. Just a few steps you need to follow:
1. Start from the first space (count from bottom).
2. Swirl in the clockwise direction
3. Touch the 3rd line and continue swirling in the same direction.
4. Reach the 1st line and continue swirling without crossing over this line.
5. Next, start heading upwards after leaving the 1st space.
6. Reach the outer top and do a big turn in the opposite direction.
7. Get your writing going downwards and reach the bottom out of the stave.
8. You don’t need to make a straight vertical line but a little swirl at the end will be perfect.
